Whilst Midnattsol ebbs and flows between expressive neoclassical piano pieces and cinematic, tender balladry, no song better encapsulates its depth and gentle radiance than the closing track and its moving new music video. Heartwrenchingly beautiful and breathtakingly wondrous, Peter Sandberg’s third album Midnattsol is a powerful tribute to (and celebration of) Sweden’s midnight sun: A cinematic record full of passion and intimacy that opens listeners’ eyes and ears to one of Earth’s natural marvels and our own individual potential. Inflorescence features collaborators Phoebe Bridgers, Sara Bareilles, Bon Iver, Brittany Howard and Emily King, and is set for release on Augvia Sony Music Masterworks. An achingly sweet outpouring of raw humanity and intimate connection, “Wasted on You” glows with stirring awe as Peter Sandberg and Aquilo capture a moment of meditative wonder. My directorial debut: no budget, makeup wipes and stickers.”įrom duetting with Phoebe Bridgers on late night TV to arranging the strings on Miley Cyrus’s recent chart topper “Flowers,” ROB MOOSE, the highly-sought after producer and arranger, is releasing music under his own name for the first time at age 40. Within a day of our initial meeting, I had pitched the idea of putting tooth gems on an 82-year-old woman and rearranging our living room into a production studio. Once she left for tour I moved into a new house and met my roommate Caden, who is a video editor and his best friend Sam, a cinematographer. In my first three months in Los Angeles, I found myself living with Phoebe’s bandmate in Silverlake. “Creating the music video for ‘Wasted’ was an exercise in spontaneity. ![]() On the creation of the video, Director Peter Cerrito says: Hundreds of hours and several hiatuses later, Phoebe resang the vocal, and ‘Wasted’ began its new life.” I kept working on it in bursts and stepping away, a process that was new for me. When I opened up the song again in New York, I felt like the song was ready for a major shift. Progress came slowly, but I managed to arrange and record what felt like a rough demo of the first verse and chorus before flying home. I first started to tinker with it on a retreat to Orcas Island, with snow out the window and no helpful instruments nearby. Rob Moose notes of their collaboration on the track: That’s an inside joke but there is a deeper connection we share musically which resembles being blood related.” Phoebe Bridgers comments on her working relationship with Rob Moose: Accompanying today’s track release is a new video for “Wasted” directed by Peter Cerrito. On “Wasted,” a fan-favorite written by Bridgers’ longtime collaborator Marshall Vore, Rob reimagines the track, pushing and pulling at the harmony and transforming it into something special. Having worked together since 2016, Rob has collaborated with Phoebe on her music (added strings on Stranger in the Alps, co-produced Copycat Killer EP). The track is from his forthcoming EP, Inflorescence, available August 11th via Sony Music Masterworks. Rob Moose, the producer and arranger, has released his second single, “Wasted” featuring Phoebe Bridgers. ![]()
